My past professions have entailed extended work schedules, often in environments where cleaning and changing lenses while at work can damage the lenses, or introduce harmful foreign matter that can hurt my eyes as well. This particular brand and type of lens was the solution to that problem. If I hadn't already exceeded the recommended wearing time, I generally have to wait until I get home to clean (or replace if it is time) the lenses. Most of the time, I can just toss the old pair, give my eyes a break (8 hours for every week worn), and then replace them. I have found I must remove the lenses if I become ill (just a precaution, but especially if the flu), but allergies have no effect on my ability to just keep wearing them.

My wear schedule is unusual, due to the nature of my job, and while I experience no problems with this, I don't recommend it for others. I can be on the road for up to several weeks at a time, and the dirty work environment (as a trucker) deters my ability to change them. However, excluding periods of extreme eye fatigue, where my eyes can get very dry, I've never had an issue with this, not one infection or scratch to the eyes whatsoever. I've also worn them in chemistry labs and warehouses for extended periods, with the same eye protection as others, without a single problem.

I've worn other brands by other manufacturers, and have had considerable problems, including one very serious eye infection, within just a couple of days of wear (even when not at work, the time I generally will use to test new types of lenses). To date, this brand and type of lens is the only one I can trust to give me the clearest vision possible, while protecting my eyes.

If your prescription is stronger than most, like mine, I recommend ordering your next batch early on, as finding my strength at retailers while on the road is almost impossible, and my unpredictable work schedule makes it impossible to plan delivery to arrive at my next projected stop.

The only problem I have encountered with this type of lens is with regards to eye fatigue, because as the eyes dry out, so will the lenses. I generally will either take a rest break (a normal overnight sleep break usually does it for me), or if work conditions dictate that I can't stop for a couple of more hours, I'll switch back to glasses until I can get into a clean enough environment to put a new pair in, after giving my eyes the standard break by wearing glasses for a day or so.

I also recommend, for those with prescriptions as strong as mine, that you request the type with a blue tint to them. It makes it easier to see the lens when placing them into the eye, without changing your natural eye color. I also recommend wrap-around safety or sun glasses (depending on time of day) for very windy conditions (especially cross winds), as the ease of removal, even after prolonged wear, can cause them to blow out.

This is the perfect lens (in my opinion) for professionals who work mainly outdoors or in environments where chemicals, dust, fumes, motor vehicle exhaust and soot, etc, are a frequent hazard, and for health care workers who cannot chance touching their eyes, nor can just stop to deal with lenses going out of position or falling out during critical times.

I think these contact lenses would be better suited for daily wear opposed to weekly. They seem to dry out rather quickly - I found them to irritate my eyes and they became uncomfortable by the end of the day. I have worn monthly contacts for years and I found the monthly lenses to retain way more moisture and not irritate my eyes in comparison to these lenses. Will not purchase these again.

      Comments about Acuvue 2:

I have a severe contact allergy to silicone. These contacts are silicone-free! They are some of the last silicone-free contacts available. Without them I would be forced into glasses full-time. I've worn this brand for 16 years and am very happy with this product.

          Comments about Acuvue 2:

I was quite surprised to find that these weekly wear lenses were less durable than a daily disposable. The lens folds over on itself very easily and is VERY hard to get unstuck. As gentle as I am along with soaking the lens in solution again, I am sure that I am damaging the lens. I will look for another brand in the future.

I was very impressed with the speed of delivery. I have found one contact lens in every lot if have bought that doesn't last long, maybe a few days but overall I am very happy with the product and have recommended it to others.

                  Comments about Acuvue 2:

This lense has been on the market for years and still is because it gives super clear vision correction with absolutely no irritation (if correct hygiene is followed). I started with the original Acuvue 30 yrs ago. Migrated to Acuvue 2 when the original was discontinued. Tried Oasys for 3 years but developed an allergy to the "modern" material in it. My vision worsened but otherwise no other effects (others have been affected much severely). I switched back to the tried and tested Acuvue 2. My suggestion is if Acuevue 2 gives you clear vision with no discomfort, don't bother going to Oasys. There's a chance Oasys will cause a reaction. Stick to Acuvue 2, you can't go wrong.
